Frank died peacefully at home on Friday, March 9, 2018. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Teresa A. Valletta, parents Molly C. Valletta Sheridan and Frank L. Valletta, Sr., stepfather William Sheridan, brother Nick Valletta, sister Lorraine Valletta, nephew Nicholas Valletta, niece Maria Valletta. Survived by his loving children Frank L. (Margaret) Valletta III, Patti (Bryan) Dalton and Joseph W. (Missy) Valletta, and adoring grandchildren Molly (Jim) Orband, Claire Valletta, Carmella and Kevin Dalton, Anthony and Anna Valletta. Frank is also survived by beloved nieces, nephews and sister-in-law’s. Born in Endicott, NY on June 24, 1932. Frank was raised in a close-knit immigrant Italian family. He was a proud Armyveteran serving in the Korean War. He was the owner of Valletta Motor Trucking Company and Valletta Realty and Appraisal Service. He served on the Vestal Town Board as a Councilman for over twenty years. He served in a leadership role for many community organizations; President U.E. High School Class of January 1952, President Delta Nu Alpha, President Endicott Kiwanis Club, Board of Directors Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome, PTA President Clayton Avenue School, Treasurer Vestal Youth Football, President Community Memorial Center, Board of Directors SOS Shelter, President of South Central Motor Carriers’ Association. Close to his heart was spending time with his beloved grandchildren and children. He was their #1 fan. Frank cherished his family time at their summer home on the Upper Rideau Lake in Canada, fondly known as the Villa de Sol. As an avid New York Giants fan, Frank enjoyed many excursions to the Meadowlands with friends and family. He was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and took great pride in his role as an usher. “Pop” was a true patriarch whose children and grandchildren are grateful for his unwavering love and encouragement.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 14 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal NY. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 13 from 4 to 7 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. In Lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Frank’s memory to the Our Lady Sorrows Food Pantry, 801 Main Street, Vestal, NY 13850.
