George J. Koutsaris of Endicott, NY passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the age of 85 with his loving family by his side. George was born in Tripi (Sparti) Greece and immigrated to New York in 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Helen Koutsaris and his brother Nicholas Koutsaris.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Katerina; daughter, Elaine (Nick) Manou and grandchildren, Dimitri, George and Michael; son, John (Evanthia) Koutsaris and grandchildren Catherine, George and Annie; sister-in-law, Tessie Koutsaris; brother, Louie (Argie); sisters, Bessie (Steve) Anastos and Georgia (John) Dimitriadis; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he adored and loved so much.
George provided unconditional love and support to his family, friends and church community. He was an active member and chanter of his beloved church. Together with his brothers he owned the Pantheon Restaurant in Endicott, NY for over 30 years, followed by J & G Barber Shop which was his favorite hobby after retirement. George also loved writing poems for family and friends along with publishing his autobiography “TO PALIKARI KAI TO ONEIRO TOU” (A Young Man and His Dream).
Services will be held Tuesday 11 am at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 4121 O’Hara Drive, Vestal, Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at church Tuesday from 9 am until service time at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, Vestal, NY 13850 and/or St. Nektarios Monastery, 100 Anawanda Lake Road, Roscoe, NY 12776.
