Gerald “Jerry” Folmar

Gerald (Jerry) K. Folmar, 70, of Apalachin went to be with our Lord on Friday June 1, 2018. Born in Johnson City, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Jeannette Stewart Folmar. He was a graduate of Vestal High School and earned an Associate degree in Arts and Sciences from Broome Technical Community College. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Vestal. He was a Marine Corps Veteran having served in Vietnam. Jerry was a mail carrier with the Endicott branch of the USPS for 30 years. Retiring in 2008, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, and friends. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a die hard Mets fan. He was also a great train enthusiast and enjoyed listening to music, particularly classic rock. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Carrie Ann; two sisters, Shirley Scarano and Debbie Mirabelli; a nephew, Aaron Savage; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by three daughters, Stephanie (Kevin) Bandru, Scott Township Pa, Kenna (Chris) Bennett, Clarks Summit, Pa, Jacy, and partner Ross Schwenk, Whippany, NJ; two sons, Michael (Beth), Dalton, Pa, Elliott, Binghamton, NY; two stepsons; Aaron Patterson (Jandora), Altoona, Pa, Kelly Patterson (Michele), Masapequa, NY; fourteen grandchildren; two brothers, Roger (Lorna) Folmar, Big Flats, NY and Mark Folmar, Endicott, NY; sister, Diane (Chuck) Savage, Webster, NY; a brother-in-law, Mark Scarano, Endicott, NY; several nieces,nephews & cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 10 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Friday from 9-9:50 am. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street P.O.
