Gloria Jean Cannavino

Gloria Jean Cannavino, 93, Endicott, NY passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023, Ideal Senior Center Endicott.
Gloria was born March 16, 1930 in Belington, WV to Strother Ramsey and Velva Moore Ramsey. Thanks to the painstaking genealogical research by sister Norma’s husband Jerry, mom learned about her sixth great grandfather, Jon Hart, signer of the Declaration of Independence. Not bad for a country girl.
Gloria joined the Army in 1949, during the Korean Conflict and served at Ft. Sam Houston, TX, where she met and married her husband stationed there and in the process of transitioning to the newly formed Air Force.
Gloria is preceded in death by husband, SMSGT USAF Anthony J Cannavino Sr. Endicott NY, and survived by six sons: John W Cannavino and Deborah, Wilton, CT. Anthony J Cannavino Jr. and Candy, New Bern, NC. Thomas F Cannavino and Diane, Endicott, NY.
Patrick A Cannavino and Paul, Encino, CA. James A Cannavino and Thao, Ithaca, NY. Paul D Cannavino and Linda, Endicott, NY.
Along with her sons she leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren
Gloria also was preceded in death by a brother Strother Ramsey and sister Lucille McCauly
She is survived by sisters Winona Johnson FL, Pearl Reed OH, Norma Baughman VA, Wanda Wolfe OH, and Patricia Ohrn, NC and brothers Darrell Heatherly WV, and David Heatherly WV.
Gloria and her husband Anthony, raised their six sons in diverse locations around the world.
Gloria experienced a revolution in Turkey, the threat of a Soviet invasion of Germany during the Berlin Wall Crisis, erupting volcanoes and earthquakes in Alaska and Iceland.
Gloria was a fearless adventurer as evidenced by her lack of fear where she was one of the few young wives willing to drive in Yalova, Turkey.
Admired for her pies since her teen years she was an excellent cook and baker.
Gloria and her husband opened the Realty USA franchise in Endicott where they arranged financing and partnered to build the Ford subdivision on upper Taft Avenue as one of their ventures.
The short story is Gloria was an amazing mother, loved to travel and supported her family unconditionally.
Service were held at the convenience of the family.
