Harold “Dick” Cook

d. June 4, 2023

Harold R. “Dick” Cook (Cookie) 85, born in Lanesboro, PA and passed away at his home in Johnson City, New York on June 4, 2023.Dick was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. and a participating member of the American Legion Post 1305. He devoted 30+ years of employment with Parlor City Construction and Teamsters Union, which laid a foundation for his family and his friends. Dick was a straight shooter not only with his words, but with his rifles when hunting. His love for others came in the form of life lessons, mentorship, and a shoulder to lean on. Throughout his years, you would best find him on the water, on a fairway, or on an alley, sharing life moments with the ones he loved and cared for. “You’re only as good as you next shot”, he always said, and with that advice we’ll always know he is striving for us to do better, love more and let nothing break us apart. His second first date with an angel is underway and with that they are both smiling down and watching over us from above. Dick is predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth A. Cook (Melkulcok), his parents, Harold G. Cook Sr., and Clara Cook (Valentine), his brother Larry Cook, his sister Carol Cook and his daughter-in-law- Sherry Cook (Miller). Dick is survived by his children, Harold R. Cook Jr., Jacqueline Lindsley (Cook) and John Cook (Wendy); as well as his grandchildren, Bill (Kate), Stephen (Nannette), Ashley, Kristine (Matt), Kyle, Tyler, and Courtney (Tony), his great-grandchildren, Wesley, Sophia and Addison and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends for a graveside prayer service at Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum in Johnson City, NY on Friday June 16th, 2023, at 11:00 am; followed by a celebration of life at the Airport Inn at 2166 Airport Road, Binghamton, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
