Helen M. Blume

Helen M. (Morgan) Blume, 93, formerly of Cortland, NY, passed away peacefully at IdealSenior Living Center on Saturday, April 20, 2013. She was predeceased by her parents John J. and Sara Morgan, her husband John W. Blume and her brother John G. Morgan.She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sheila Blume, Endicott, granddaughter Sara Blume, Endicott and grandson Christopher Blume, Buffalo, NY. Additionally, she is survived by two sisters Marjorie Ash, Clarks Summit, PA and Janet Stansbury, Clarks Summit, PA and brother Robert Morgan, Milford, NH. Helen graduated from Scranton Central High School. She worked for the Glen Alden Coal Company, Scranton, PA, Wickwire Brothers, Cortland, NY, Barden Homes, Homer, NY, and retired in 1992 as Assistant Administrator of Highgate Manor Nursing Home in Cortland. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Cortland for 55 years. Helen was an avid bridge player and she was also a huge NY Mets fan from the beginning in 1962. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Ideal Senior Living Center, especially 5th Floor assisted living and Lily Court for their exceptional care and compassion.Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family and burial will be at AbingtonHills Cemetery in Clarks Summit, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice in honor of Helen’s memory.
