Helen Economides

Helen V. Economides, 89, of Endicott NY fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, August 5, 2016 after a long illness. Helen was born and raised in Endicott, NY as part of a loving extended Greek family consisting of her grandmother, parents, and aunts and uncles of the Economides family, as well as her beloved Rottweilers Alexis and Lexi, all of whom predeceased her . Helen is survived by her sister Amelia , and her nephew Vasili Yacalis and his wife Pamela. Helen was a retired culinary arts teacher at Broome Tioga BOCES where she taught for over twenty years. She was very proud of her students and their accomplishments, and always thought of them as extended family. She enjoyed spending her summers at her lake house on Cayuga Lake, she was an avid gardener and also traveled to Europe during vacations with her traveling companion Vasili.
Funeral services will be performed on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10 am at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 4121 O’Hara Drive, Vestal NY by the Reverend Father Michael Bahlatzis, interment will be at Riverhurst Cemetery immediately following the services. The family would like to thank the caring staff of the Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center who gave Helen much care and kindness during her stay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s name to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
