Helen Fitzgerald

Helen Fitzgerald, 95, of Apalachin passed away in her sleep to join her husband, James, on Thursday, February 19, 2015. She was born in Binghamton, NY before moving to Little Meadows, PA. Helen was predeceased by the love of her life, James, her parents Ed and Nellie Shaughnessy, her siblings Rita, Jim, Jean, Ed and Jerry and her brothers-in-law Don, Ray and Tom Fitzgerald and her sister in law Peg Kelly. Helen is survived by her brother Paul Shaughnessy, her sisters-in-law Mary Sabitus, Therese Fitzgerald and Anne Shaughnessy, friends Mary Casey and Jodi Steen, and many nieces and nephews. She graduated from Owego Free Academy, worked at IBM Owego and later joined her husband’s accounting business. Helen and her husband Jim loved visiting with family, friends at their homes and at many local hot spots. Helen’s family expresses a special thank you to her caregivers at The Homestead of Apalachin.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 11:30 am at St. Margaret Mary’s Church, Pennsylvania Avenue, Apalachin. The family will receive friends at church Saturday from 10 am until Mass time at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Little Meadows Volunteer Fire Company, 3 Maple Street, Little Meadows, PA 18830.
