Homer James Keast, 97, of Vestal, NY, passed through the gates of Heaven on Jan 9, 2022. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer & Bessie Keast, and by his sister, Marian (Duane) Jenkins. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rose Marie (Poltanis) Keast, his brother, Robert (Dorothy) Keast, and his children, Karen (Dale) Peloke and Kenneth (Karen) Keast. He is also survived by cherished granddaughters, Rachel (Jim) Fenney and Amanda (Kyle) Colunio and 2 great grandsons, Henley and Knox Colunio.
Homer graduated from Waymart, PA, high school in 1942 as a 3 letter athlete. He enlisted in the Army and graduated from the Army Signal Corp-Radar program at Drexel University. He served overseas in active duty in World War II as a Staff Sergeant - 3rd Army Field Artillery. He worked for General Electric over 35 years, mostly as a Draftsman (Flight Control Systems) at the Westover plant in Johnson City. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, in his younger years, and upon retirement making homemade wooden crafts with Rose. They both enjoyed many happy days collecting sharks teeth and seashells at Myrtle Beach.
A family memorial and burial in Waymart, PA, will take place at a future date.
