Horatio Denson, departed this life into eternity on Tuesday, October 18, 2022; he leaves to celebrate his life a loving mother, Florene Denson, Pickens; Sisters Doristeen Washington, Jackson, MS; Kim Daniels (Carl), Hempstead, NY; a brother, Alex Johnson (Monique), Silver Springs, MD; a devoted uncle, C.L. Denson, Endicott, NY; two Aunts, Gladys Taylor, Louisville, MS; Vera Johnson, Jackson, MS and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was born November 29, 1957, in Lexington, Mississippi to Florene Denson and Leonard Johnson. He departed from this life Tuesday afternoon, October 18, 2022 at the Fairview Memorial Compart Home, Binghamton, NY after a lengthy patient at the Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY.
He united with the Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Pickens, MS, under the ministry of the late Rev. Ward. His deep Christian conviction was the source for the strength that he embodied. Among one of Horatio’s most memorable moments during Church Services was Ministry of Music at Faith Temple Church, Elmira, NY. His love, his god children; Liam Legree, Teegan Hawkins, Ethan Hawkins and his love and dedication to his family.
He exhibited the same humble services for his community. He served on the Board of Directors of United Health Services and the Board of Trustees of Faith Temple Community Church. He was a member of the American Management Association and the National Urban League.
He began his career at Lockheed Martin, Owego, NY in 1981. While employed at Lockheed Martin, he was promoted to Vice-President. He served as System Integration-Owego’s Controller. He directed financial planning and oversaw the long-range financial plan and analysis.
Horatio graduated from Saints Academy High School, Lexington, MS. He received a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rust College, Holly Springs, MS in 1978. He graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude).
Kindhearted, Compassionate, a Christian friend, an advisor, tenacious, humble-these terms and other such terms characterize the life of Horatio “Hersey” Denson.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday 12 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Saturday from 11 am until service time at 12 pm.
