Howard Brooker Woodward lived in Union Center, NY for most of his life. He met and married Dorothy L. Baker in Cotton Plant, Arkansas in 1944, and they were married for 62 years. He lived happily in Union Center, NY, wintered for many years in Venice, FL, and for the last 10 years lived at Willow Valley Retirement Center in Lancaster, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. Woodward, his two parents, Harry and Mabel Woodward, his brother, Guilford Woodward, and a great-granddaughter, Gianna Marie Testani. He is survived by his four children; Barbara (Woodward) Testani, Quinton, VA; Kaye (Woodward) Connell and husband, Roscoe, Quinton, VA; Rex Woodward and wife Mary Kay, Coraopolis, PA; and Tammy (Woodward) Coapman and her husband Jack, Jr., Holland, PA; as well as eight grandchildren and spouses, and ten great-grandchildren. After Howard graduated from Union Endicott High School, he graduated from Cornell University on an ROTC scholarship, and served in the U.S. Air Force in W.W. II. Howard, and his brother, Guilford, were proprietors of Woodward Poultry Farms, in Union Center, NY, and ran a successful business for many years. Howard was a devoted, long time member of Union Center United Methodist Church, in Union Center, NY., and served as a trustee. He was an associate member of the Lancaster First United Methodist Church, in Lancaster, PA. Howard enjoyed singing at both the Union Center United Methodist church, and at the Willow Valley Vespers services in Lancaster, PA. In his earlier years, Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends, and was an active member in the local Kiwanis group. He was an avid wood worker, sharing many of his creations with his family. He enjoyed playing the saxophone in the Union Endicott high school band, as well as the Cornell ROTC band. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, and loving father, a steward of his church, and a friend to all. Funeral services will be held Saturday10 am, at the Union Center United Methodist, 128 Maple Drive, Union Center, NY, with the Reverend Brown Naik officiating. Burial will be in the Nanticoke Valley Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main, Endicott, Friday evening from 6-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in his memory to the Union Center United Methodist Church Building Fund, 128 Maple Drive, Endicott, NY 13760.
