Irvin “Donald” Reichley, 95, of Endwell, NY passed away on June 4, 2024, at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, NY.
Born in Shamokin, PA, he was the son of the late Kathryn and Elwood Reichley. He is predeceased by his first wife, Rowena (Nause) in 1951, his beloved son Kyle in 1986 and his wonderful second wife, Jeanne (Grice) in 2014.
He is survived by his daughter Kris (Bill), grandchildren Scott (Destyne), of Reston, VA and Colleen, of Denver, CO; two great-grandchildren, Rory and Ryan. He is also survived by son, John Purcell (Jan) and two brothers John (Ethel Ann) and Richard (Sandy).
Don, as he was known, attended high school in Shamokin, PA and then worked on the Reading Railroad for four years. At the outbreak of the Korean War, he entered the armed forces serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1951-53 in both the U.S. and Germany. Upon his discharge he attended Penn State University, earning a BS in Electrical Engineering. He accepted employment with IBM and relocated to Endwell. In 1966, he received his Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University. He worked for IBM for 33 years, retiring in 1990.
During retirement he enjoyed his favorite pastime of wood working by designing, building, and restoring furniture. He was a volunteer income tax counselor and coordinator for AARP for many years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 255 in PA and a 32-degree Mason in the AASR Valley of Binghamton where he received the Meritorious Service Award.
The family will receive friends at the Endwell United Methodist Church on Friday, July 19 between 12-1pm; a memorial service will follow. Burial will be private at Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
