Irwin J. “Doc” Rosenberg, M.D., 79, of Endwell and Sarasota, FL passed away suddenly on August 17, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Freida Rosenberg. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Rosenberg and his pride and joy children, Lynne (Greg) Calvey, Donna Corbin, Julie Rosenberg all of Vestal, and Sheri Rosenberg of Watertown, MA. He is also survived by his loving grandsons, Alex and Logan Calvey, and Andrew and Spencer Corbin all of Vestal, NY; special sister and brother-in-law, Elana and Earl Gordon; and nephews, Larry, Ben and Jonas Nachsin. Doc graduated from Bronx Science High School, NYU and received a Masters in Physiology also from NYU. He received his MD from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. He practiced orthopedic surgery in Endicott and Owego for almost 30 years. Irv was Chief of Staff at United Health Services, President of Broome County Medical Society, President of Medical Staff of Ideal/Wilson hospitals, Chairman of the Dept. of Orthopedics at UHS, Member of Board of Directors of the NYS Society of Orthopedic Surgeons, Certified American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, and an Instructor of Clinical Orthopedics at Upstate Medical. He was also the President of Endicott Rotary and President of Temple Concord. Doc loved spending weekends at Greek Peak as a member of the medical ski patrol. He was also the team orthopedic surgeon for the Broome Dusters, Binghamton Whalers and Binghamton Rangers. Irv loved spending time on the golf course at Vestal Hills CC where he was a member for many years. Doc will be greatly missed by his many friends, colleagues, former patients and mostly his family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm at Temple Concord, 9 Riverside Drive, Binghamton. Rabbi Barbara Goldman-Wartell will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at Temple Concord Wednesday evening from 4-7 pm and again on Thursday from 1 pm until service time at 2 pm. The family will be sitting shiva.
