James (Big Jim) Antoniadis, 93 fell asleep in the Lord on January 27, 2015 in Jacksonville Fl. He was predeceased by his wife Amelia of 999 years. He was the eldest of five children born to George and Artemisia Antoniadis and was predeceased by his parents and all his siblings. He is survived by his son George and his wife Hope, sister in law Helen Demetry; nieces Artie Petrides Voudouris; Maria Maira; Pia Bendert; and Joann Demetry; Niki Christopher; Joann Parmenter; Stephanie Haire; Cheryl Adams, and nephew Gus Petrides. Big Jim served during WWII with the 35th Evacuation Hospital in the European Theater and was a member of American Legion Post in Binghamton. Returning from the war Jim began his career in the restaurant industry serving the citizens of the Triple Cities at the Community in Binghamton, King Arthurs in Endicott, the Binghamton Country Club and the Binghamton City Club. He was a people person and his favorite way of greeting people at these establishments was ‘Welcome Home’. He will be truly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 4thth at 10 am at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, Vestal. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott on Tuesday, February 3rd from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Jim’s memory to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 4121 O’Hara Drive, Vestal NY 13850.
