James “Jim” Ernst

James Charles Ernst of Apalachin, NY passed away 4/14/2022 after a long and brave battle. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Marie (Wynn) Ernst. He is survived by his soulmate and wife, Susan, his beloved children, Kyra Ernst, and Andre and Anton Angeline, his sister Helen O’Brien, his nephews Jeffrey (Mana) O’Brien, and Timothy (Nancy) O’ Brien, as well as several great nieces and nephews. Jim was a proud Queens kid as he liked to say, who loved baseball, swimming, stickball, and softball. He was a graduate of Queens College and retired after many years as a Quality Assurance Manager of the NYS Office of Disability Determinations. He excelled at his work and always sought to help others. He was known for his kindness to everyone, his quick wit, and his vast knowledge. He loved going to the beach, especially Cape Cod, and exploring new restaurants. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. He loved his children dearly and they were the joy of his life. He treasured the time when they were small, as well as when they grew and became the young adults they are now. He was so proud of all of their accomplishments and could spend endless time talking with them, watching tv and sports with them, and going to all of their activities. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 until 6 pm at the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. A Funeral Mass will be offered 12 pm Wednesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 701 West Main Street, Endicott. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
