James J. Kilb, “Bear,” of Johnson City, age 72, died at Lourdes Hospital on May 29, 2018, after a brief fight with a sudden illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph J. Kilb and Barbara J. (Kilb) Nichols as well as sister, Sharon Jacobs. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Andrea Kilb, and daughter, Stephanie, both of Johnson City. He also leaves behind niece and nephew, Sherrie Traver (Doug) of Norwood, NC, Todd Jacobs (Holly), Willet, NY, and many grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. Jim worked for the Town of Vestal Highway Department for 5 years, and NYS DOT for 31 years. He retired as a Bridge Repair Supervisor in 2001. He was a selfless and caring individual, known for his dry wit. He enjoyed time in nature, and trips to national monuments and historic places. His favorite trip was a road trip to Alaska with his family to visit Kenny and Pat. He also enjoyed watching his beloved NY Giants, Yankees, and NASCAR races. The family would like to extend a special thank you to UVES and the staff at Lourdes Hospital for all of their assistance and sympathy during this difficult time.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at 11 am at the Vestal Park Cemetery, Main St., Vestal, NY. The family will host a celebration of his life, to be announced at a later date.
