James J McMahon 87, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024 at the Oxford Veterans Home, Oxford, NY.
James is survived by his wife of 42 years, Scarlettt Downs McMahon Children Dorothy (Thomas) Lippert , Harpursville, NY. Timothy McMahon, Binghamton, NY, Donna McMahon, Binghamton, NY, Debra (William) Burdette, Gallipolis, Ohio, Walter (Tiffany) McMahon, North Ridgeville, Ohio. Several Grand Children, Great Grandchildren, one Great Great Grandchild , nieces and nephews, Sister Elenora Hogancamp, Johnson City NY, Brothers Roger McMahon, South Carolina and William McMahon, Binghamton, NY.
James was very proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean war conflict. He was a life member and past commander of American Legion Post 82 in Endicott, NY
He retired from the Coca-Cola company in Binghamton, NY after 25 years of service. James was known for his unique sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting casinos,
traveling and playing cards with friends and family. His favorite saying was “If I can’t win, I don’t want to play”
I want to thank the entire staff from the Hawthorn neighborhood at the Oxford Veterans Home for the wonderful care that he received .
It was James’s request that there be no services, but he did let me know that he would love a party instead. There will be a Celebration of Life sometime in the Spring. Invitations will be mailed.
