James Murphy, 81, of Endicott, passed away on Tuesday, July 19th , after a brief illness.
James was born on August 4, 1940, in Olyphant, Pa. He moved to Endicott over 55 years ago, worked for IBM and retired after nearly 40 years of service. He was a three-time letterman in high school, lifelong Notre Dame and Yankees fan. His love of sports continued throughout his life. He was an avid golfer and passed down the love for the game throughout generations. When he wasn’t golfing, you would mostly likely find him in his recliner, remote in hand, switching from one sports channel to the next and always loved a classic Neil Diamond or Elvis song.
James was predeceased by his son Brian and his brother Frank.
James will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Gloria Jean; sons: Mark and Tim (Wendy); daughter-in-law Heidi (Rick); his five grandchildren Nicole (Matthew), Jake (Katelyn), Colin, Kayla, and Devon; and his four great grandchildren Maddox, Emma, Kennedy and Chase; as well as numerous extended family members and lifelong friends. Jim will be remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation will be held Friday July 29, 2022 from 9:45 am until service time at 11 am, at the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street Endicott, officiated by Rev. Clarence Rumble. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
