During the morning hours of February 18th, 2025 James Joseph Stulir passed into Heaven at the age of 81.
He was a devoted husband, father, cherished grandfather “Pop pop”, great-grandfather, uncle, and a steadfast friend to many.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Albina Stulir, a grandson Garrett McMahon, brother Frank Stulir, his sisters Evelyn Tomsey, Ann Lombardo, Helen Buran and Irene Severson.
Family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Stulir, and children Mary and Chuck Martin, Terri and Luciano Piccirilli, Melissa and Seaborn Kelley, and Michael and Wendy Stulir. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren: Michael (Mallorie), Ryan, Luciana (John), Caleb (Nicole), Seaborn, Max, Grace, and Island; two great-grandsons – Santino and Michael, and one great-granddaughter, Viviana. He is also survived by one brother, William (Donna) Stulir, brother-in-law Richard (Nancy) Eitel, his special nephew – Kenny Severson, plus many nieces and nephews, and most importantly his most special dog, Humphrey.
He loved his woodworking in his late years and found a passion for cooking and baking. His favorite saying was, “Your cooking is only surpassed by your beauty.” He loved people, especially the waitresses at the Skylark Diner. His loved his summer camp at Lone Pine in Sylvan Beach and made many close friends there.
He will always be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and generosity. He was a long-standing member of the Vestal Elks, a former volunteer firefighter, EMT, and police officer – and was very proud of his grandchildren following in the same path.
He had the ability to bring warmth and laughter to all the family gatherings. His presence enriched the lives of all who knew him and his legacy will live on through his family.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm on Tuesday, February 25th at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. A memorial service will be held at the Allen Memorial Home at 10 am on Wednesday, February 26th. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City, NY.
