James A. Sturgess, 90, of Endicott, died at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sunday, April 13, 2014. He was predeceased by his first wife Shirley. He is survived by his wife Eleanor; two daughters Adrienne (Willi) Tzivani, Florida and Jan Wintsch, Schenectady, NY; his grandchildren, Kim; William and Greta; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren; also step children; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Endicott and was a retired IBM Corp., Owego employee and a member of its Quarter century Club. Jim was a veteran of W.W. Ii, serving in the US Army Air Corps, completing 35 missions with the 384th Bomb Group. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 1390, Maine, NY.
Funeral and Interment services will be held Saturday 3 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with the Reverend Mark Marino, Pastor of his church officiating. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, Saturday from 2 pm until service time at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech Street, Johnson City, NY 13790 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 401 Hayes Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760 or Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20850.
