James (Jim) L. Walker, 73 of Maine, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on September 25, 2022 surrounded by his family, after a short battle with lung cancer. He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy (Walker) Winans; and father, Richard Walker. He is survived by his sons, Dan (Jamie) Walker, Ed Walker, and Jim Walker; stepchildren, Joann (Chris) Pratt and John Moelder; sister, Janine Walker; brother, John (Diane) Walker; grandchildren, Declan, Avery and Addie. Jim was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1972, where he served on the USS Cone. He was a ‘74 graduate of Broome Community College, where he received an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Technology. He retired from E&M Power in 2014, and prior to that worked at IBM Endicott, as well as other various businesses. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors, as well as woodworking and building. He will be sorely missed, especially by his closest family members, for his vast knowledge of fixing just about anything. He could often be found “puttering” around the house or in the garage. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Wilson Hospital South Tower 5 and North Tower 4, as well as the nursing staff at Lourdes Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Jim.
A private graveside service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Great Camp Sagamore, Foodbank of the Southern Tier or American Red Cross.
