Jean Ann Gow, 91, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 7, 2015. Jean was born on January 15, 1924 in Rocky River, Ohio. Jean was one of two daughters of John and Ruth Pierce. She was predeceased by her loving parents, John and Ruth Pierce, and her sister Marge and brother in-law John ‘Jay’ Griffin, her sister in-law Helen Gow and her daughter Diane Gow. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jim Gow, her daughter and son in-law Andrea & Pete Patten, her nephew John Griffin of Austin Texas, her brother in-law Robert Gow of Warren, Vermont, her niece Mary (Gow) Hewitt and her husband Steve of Warren, Vermont, and her Grandchildren Dave & Rob McGrath of New York City, and Rachel & Eric Patten of Binghamton. Jean graduated from Wooster College in Ohio and Cornell University where she met her husband Jim. After graduation she worked for the General Electric Company in Schenectady, New York, until she left to become a house wife and mother. Jean was involved with the League of Women Voters for many years and was a past president, and she was a member of the Binghamton Country Club. She was also one of the Charter Members of the Northminster Presbyterian Church in Endwell.
There will be a Memorial Service and Celebration of Jean’s life Friday May 15, at 11 am at the North Minster Presbyterian Church, Hooper and Farm to Market Road, Endwell. The family will receive friends at the Church from 10 am until service time at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to Northminster Presbyterian Church, Planned Parenthood Health Center of Binghamton, or WSKG.
