Jeffrey “Jeff” Bump

Jeffrey P. Bump, 67, residing in Kirkwood, NY, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2021. Jeff was predeceased by his loving parents, Dennis and Rachel Bump and brother-in-law, James VanTyle. He is survived by his son, JB (Brooke) Bump; daughter, Jessica Bump; grandchildren, Addison and Carter Bump; siblings, Cindy VanTyle, David (Diane) Bump, Rick (Judy) Bump, Joan (Eben) Dennis; lifelong supporter, Susie Bump; second son, Jason Houghtaling; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and too many admired friends to mention.
Jeff was a 1972 Graduate of Windsor Central High School and although achieving a perfect 1600 score on his SAT (in 2 combined tries), chose to forego the IVY League offers and enter the challenging world of business ownership. His two crown jewels, New York Carolina Express (NYCE), and The Links at Hiawatha Landing, would prove to fulfill his biggest dream of impacting thousands of people through both employment and philanthropic ventures. He was the most generous man you would ever meet and his impact will continue to be felt by many. Jeff was an avid Fly Fisherman (although better rower), an avid golfer (although better caddie), but his real joy in life was empowering his friends and loved ones to achieve their highest potential, in whatever endeavor they desired. When you joined Jeff’s circle, your friends became his friends, and his friends became yours. You knew that you would always be welcomed, always encouraged, and always supported to pursue your dreams. Jeff was a larger-than-life figure who lived by a very simple yet complex philosophy: work hard, play hard, and love everyone more than they have been loved before. You could often find his infectious smile in left field of Binghamton University softball games, at the corner of the Links at Hiawatha Grill Room, or at one of the available stools at Cortese Restaurant. He was the life of every gathering, the person you would always remember, and the person by your side to help you meet your challenges and also celebrate in your success. Bottom line, he had everyone’s back, has impacted so many he knew, and many more that he didn’t. One thing remained constant along his journey, he lived life to the fullest, and had fun doing it every day throughout his ride. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to The Danielle House in Jeff’s memory. To honor Jeff’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

The Family will welcome friends in a private Celebration of Life on Tuesday, July 27th.
