Jeffrey P. Cornick, 68, of Vestal, NY passed away Thursday afternoon December 28, 2017 at his family’s home in Apex, NC after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was predeceased by his father and step mother John and Anne Cornick, mother Wanda Cornick, brother John Every, and brother-in-law Herb VanDeusen. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Patricia Cornick, Vestal, his son and daughter-in-law Josh and Erin Cornick, Apex, NC, daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Kevin Fitts, Apex, NC,6 grandchildren (Kaylee, Julia, Wyatt, Jake, Kate, and Harper), his brother John Cornick, NY, his sister Jane VanDeusen, VA, brother Randy McIntyre, UT, sister and brother-in-law Coleen and Al Wood, SC, brother and sister-in-law James and Terry Cornick, NY, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Judy and Russ Bukwa, PA, sister-in-law Sandra Crouse, NY, sister-in-law Debra Cummings, NY, brother-in-law John Lenox, NY and also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Jeff taught physical education in the Vestal Central School District for 38 years, most of them at Clayton Avenue Elementary School. He coached Varsity Boys lacrosse for several years, as well as freshman boys and middle school girls basketball. Through his years as an educator and coach he impacted the lives of so many as a mentor, advocate, and friend. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping with his family and close friends on local land, in the Adirondacks, and across the US and Canada in many of our National Parks. He also enjoyed cooking, visiting new places and restaurants, playing and watching a variety of sports, listening to music, dancing, and was always up for a good time. He had a huge heart and would do whatever he could to support the people he met along his journey without hesitation or judgement. He was a great brother, uncle, and friend to many. Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who supported his children and their families whenever and however they needed him. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Calling hours will be held from 11 am to 2 pm on Sunday, January 7th at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott with a memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.
