John W. “Ike” Cadden, 80, of Vestal passed away at home Thursday, June 16, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Delores and John Cadden. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean, and three sons, John and Angela, James and Lori, and Robert, and one daughter, Maureen and John Fitzgerald. He was extremely devoted to his six grandchildren, Samantha, Nicole (Jeron), Patrick, Sean, Daniel and Danny. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Miles Ellison, and two nieces Christine and Kathleen, and many cousins and friends. Ike was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania in 1935 and graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, Maryland. He worked for IBM, Federal Systems Division, in Owego retiring after 35 years. He was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal, for many years. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Ike was a history buff with a particular interest for the Civil War and enjoyed traveling. He was an enthusiastic golfer and a longtime member of the MUG League and will be remembered by his many friends for his own trademark humor.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 9:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 10 am. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, Vestal. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Monday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ike’s memory to the Our Lady of Sorrows Church Food Pantry, 801 Main Street, Vestal, NY 13850.
