John “Jack” Anthony Caton of Endwell, N.Y., passed away peacefully on July 20, 2016. at Good Shepherd Fairview Home in Binghamton. N.Y., at the age of 87. He was born in Frostburg. Maryland, to parents Marshal and Betty Ann Caton on January 18. 1929. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1940 and served overseas in both Japan and Germany, as well as in the United States in East Orange, N.J., and in Plattsburg, and retired in Romulus, N.Y., after 20 years of dedicated service. In 1954 he married his loving wife Minnie (Poochigian) Caton in Binghamton, N.Y. During his time in military service he was appointed to the prestigious Air Force Office of Special Investigation, whence he attended Yale University’s Japanese Language School and graduated Valedictorian of his class in 1955. Once in civilian life, he worked in the Binghamton Public Defender’s office and was then appointed as their Chief Clerk of City Court where he served faithfully for several years. Throughout his life Jack was always ye’) generous and gave to numerous charities in several ways. He also served for several years as a member of the Endicott Lyons Club in various other capacities and was also a proud member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Southerntiersmen Barbershop Chorus, Binghamton Chapter, and served as its President as well. In February 2012, he and his wife became Deacons of Northminster Presbyterian Church of Endwell, N.Y., and served as longtime members of the church choir. Jack was an avid golfer and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Minnie (Poochigian) Caton: his brother Marshal Caton and wife Lisa Caton of Frostburg. Maryland: as well as his brother William Timmons and wife Connie of Warrington, Virginia. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Arsen Poochigian, and is also survived by Arsen’s wife, Palma Theresa (Morizio) Poochigian of Delray Beach, Florida. who is also Jack’s sister-in-law. Jack is also survived by their three loving daughters: Rene’ Pochop and husband Timothy Pochop of South Burlington, Vermont; Gail Coniglio and husband John A. Coniglio of Davie, Florida: and Kim Olsa and husband Anthony Olsa of Endicott, New York. In addition, Jack is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling Hours will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016, from 6 to 8 pm, at Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, N.Y. The Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 29, 2016, at 10 am, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 711 Farm to Market Road, Endwell, and the funeral will be presided by their pastor, Reverend Dr. James Martin. A Military Burial Service will immediately follow at Vestal Hills Memorial Park, 3997 Old Vestal Road in Vestal, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the American Heart Association.
