John Fountaine

John Michael Fountaine, 75, from Windsor, NY, passed away on October 13, 2023. He was born January, 26, 1948, in Queens, NY. John was a welcoming, engaging, and gregarious individual who will be deeply missed by his loved ones.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Linda, daughters Michaele (Scott Stoughton), Danielle (Dave Meissner), Nicole (Billy Wolfe), brother Jim (Bonnie) Fountaine, sisters Joan (Gary Biggs) and Grace Markovits, and his grandchildren Alexis, Lindsey, Alison, Emily, and John (Jack). He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Paul Markovits, and parents, John and Grace Fountaine.
John attended Windsor High School and earned a bachelor’s degree at Niagara University. John embarked on a fulfilling career as an elementary and middle school teacher. His teaching career spanned 40 years from New York to Florida. He touched the lives of countless students, leaving a lasting impact on their education and personal growth. Additionally, he served 23 years in the Army Reserves and retired as a Sergeant E-7.
Outside of his professional career, John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He cherished their company and made lasting memories during gatherings and “reunions”. He always made the effort to build relationships and keep in touch. He also had a passion for staying active and had a knack for betting on the horses.
A funeral service honoring John’s life will take place on October 28th at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Endicott, New York. Calling hours will be held at the church from 10-12pm, followed by a Funeral Mass at noon.
