John H. Knapp, 88, of Apalachin, went to the loving Arms of his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, May 20, 2014. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years Patricia in 2011 and an infant daughter Barbara. He is survived by four sons and daughters in law Dale and Sheryl Knapp, Indian Harbour Beach, FL; John C. Knapp, Waynesburg, PA; Thomas W. and Kathryn Knapp, Vestal and Gary M. and Karen Knapp, Apalachin; special daughter Kathleen A. Knapp, Owego; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchild; sister and brother in law Doris and Otis Robbins, Elmira, NY; brothers in law and sisters in law William and Dolores DeCoste, Pittsford, NY; Charles and Susan Hyson, Lincoln, RI and Richard Hyson, San Jose; several nieces; nephews and cousins. He was a member of Calvary’s Love Assembly of God Church, Johnson City and a retired agent with All State Insurance, with 33 years of service. John was a veteran of W.W. II and the Korean War. During W.W. II, John was sent to the University of Rochester on the Military V12 Program, where he proudly received his Bachelor of Arts Degree. A proud recipient of the Bronze Star, during his term in Korea. The family would like to extend a special thank you to UHS Outpatient Nurse Lisa Stank and Lourdes Hospice Program, for all their care and support.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 1 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with Chaplain Gary Knapp officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday from 11 am until service time at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Broome-Tioga Special Olympics, Government Plaza, Binghamton, NY 13901.
