John “Jack” Place

John M. (Jack) Place, 66, passed away on May 7, 2016 at Lourdes Hospital with his family by his side after an extended illness. He is predeceased by his parents (John and Elanor) and brother Don. He is survived by his wife Cindy, son Drew (Sarah) and Todd (Caity), his stepchildren Jeremy (Jennifer) and Amber Bakeman. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Daniel, Gabrielle, Colin and Mason. Sister Sue (Jack) Skojec, brothers Jim (Audrey), Michael (Gail) and several nieces and nephews. Jack worked 20 years at IBM. He was avid Orioles, Steelers and formula one fan. He enjoyed softball, bowling and spending weekends at Watkins Glen Raceway.

The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Tuesday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Broome County Humane Society.
