John Sylvester

d. June 15, 2022

John P. Sylvester, 56, of Endicott, passed away in comfort of his own home on 15 June 2022. He was predeceased by his father, John N. Sylvester.
John is survived by his loving wife, M. Kathleen Sylvester, two loving sons Joseph T. and Samuel J. Sylvester, four legged buddy Rusty, mother Mildred S. Sylvester, sister Karoline M. Pignatelli (Michael) and niece Maria L. Pignatelli; as well as by his sisters in law Suzanne M. Thomas, and Deborah T. Sutton (Thomas), G. Tyler Saroka (Jamie) and Emery Mae; Cassandra S. Sutton and Michael T. Sutton.
John worked at BAE Systems on the Hybrid Bus project joking through his days with his work family who were so very dear to him. He was a graduate of the Binghamton University Watson School of Engineering and Union Endicott Schools. He was a lifelong parishioner at St. Anthony’s of Padua in Endicott. John was an avid outdoorsman, craftsman, Buffalo Bills fan, loved music and last minute concerts, gardening, camping, hiking, jeep rides with the top off, finding obscure breweries and traveling. His favorite place on earth was the Adirondack’s, where his ashes will be spread atop Bald Mountain overlooking the Fulton Chain of lakes.
Special heartfelt thanks to both the entire Roma and Burns families who supported, advised and guided us through this journey every step of the way and until his last moments. We love you and are eternally grateful. We could not have navigated this without you. He was optimistic and so very much wanted to be the miracle. Thank you to all friends and family for the millions of prayers.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 2:30 pm at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott. The family will receive friends at church Wednesday from 1 pm until Mass time at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to either Mercy House or to Adirondack Park & Forest Preserve.
