Joseph Bendert

Joseph E. Bendert, 80, of Endicott, NY, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017. A beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, June Bendert; sons, Richard (Maureen), Gary (Pia), Greg (Becky), and Joseph; along with his beloved grandchildren, Maxwell, Chelsea, Jordin, Sydney, Hogan and Madison; and his brothers, Thomas (Ginny), Edward (Trish), and Paul. His was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Lena; and sister, Theresa Bendert. Joe graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1954. After serving in the US Army for two years, he began working as a Manager at IBM, a career that would span 35 years. An avid athlete throughout his life, he enjoyed playing basketball and also ventured in to a two-man bowling league on Friday nights at Riverhouse. Some of his most memorable times were spent playing softball for Kelly’s Bar. After retirement, Joe spent much time golfing at various courses in the area - all the while complaining about his golf shots, but that never stopped him from loving the game. He and his beloved wife of 57 years, June, enjoyed traveling whenever they could to such places as Italy, Germany, and Hawaii. There were also many, many days traveling the Triple Cities and elsewhere to watch his cherished grandchildren compete in various school sports. He was thrilled to tell you his favorite stories about each one of them, expressing his pride in all their endeavors. He was also especially proud of his four boys and their accomplishments. Joe’s greatest times were always spent with his family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10 AM at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis St., Endwell, with funeral services immediately following at Noon.
