Joseph Edward Dwyer was born, March 2, 1937 in Chesterville, Maryland, to John and Elva Dwyer. “Ed” passed away peacefully on June 1, 2017, in Endicott, New York after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jeanette Dwyer of Endicott, New York; his brothers John (Ann) of Galena, MD, and William Dwyer of Crompton, MD; his sister Mary Louise Wild of Millington, MD; his son Joseph (Mary) Dwyer of Melbourne, FL; his daughters Deborah (Jan) Schaefer of Felton, PA; Vicki (Ernie) See of New Freedom, PA, Kim (Sam) Tomblin of Felton, PA; Michelle (Ken) McKendree of Vestal, NY; and Kelly McGuire of Endicott, NY; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Ed joined the US Marine Corps and served his Country honorably. His career spanned 44 years in the US Department of Defense security sector, and he retired as Corporate Security Director from Raytheon Corporation in 1999. Ed was an avid golfer and achieved a hole in one. He loved good food, travels with his wife, and rollercoaster rides and swimming with his grandchildren. Ed will be remembered as a kind and mild-mannered man with a sharp sense of humor.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, in Endicott, New York, at 6 pm, on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Burial will be in Galena, Maryland at a later date.
