Joseph S. Gober, 76 of Clayton, NY, (formerly of Vestal, NY) passed away on February 22, 2018 at St. Joe’s Hospital in Syracuse after a brief illness. He was born on October 14, 1941 in Johnson City, NY, to Marion J. Gober and Alice M. Youlls. He graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1960, He then went to work for Ann Page Company and was hired as a permanent employee of IBM Endicott and retired with over 25 years of service. Upon retirement, he and his wife Bev, moved to Clayton, NY to fulfill their dream of living on the beautiful St. Lawrence River. They then spent winters in Myrtle Beach with all of their “snow bird” friends. He lost the love of his life, Bev, when she passed away on August 21, 2014. He is survived by his son Joseph S Gober Jr. (Butch), three daughters: Joyce Gober-Williams (Ron), Jo Anne Gober-Webb (Richard), Veronica Gober-Monta (Chuckie), two stepdaughters Lori Swain-Herman (Tom) and Nicole Swain-Listemann (Erik). His grandchildren were his proudest accomplishment: Brittany Clark, Anthony Devivo, Alex Herman, Alyson Herman, Dustin Webb, Dylan Webb, Adrianna Biengardo, Annabel Listemann and Chase Listemann. He also had several great-grandchildren Taylor, Ian, Makayla, Hannah and Vincent. Many Brothers Danny, Richard, Steve, John, Robert, Henry, Paul, William Gober Larry, Peter, and Joe Gincerowski and Three very special and much loved Sisters, Betty, Alice, and Veronica and even more nieces and nephews. Of special note are lifelong friends Dick and Nancy Battista (Johnson City, NY). He was predeceased by his first wife Joyce Gober, his parents/ step-parents, several brothers, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends and family at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, NY, Saturday March 3rd from 2 to 4 pm. The family also asks family and friends to gather after calling hours for a CELEBRATION of LIFE dinner at 5:00 pm at The Riverdale Banquet Hall, 2901 Watson BLVD, Endwell, NY 13670. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue at NEBOSTONRESCUE.com in honor of his love for Pudgie, Boston Terriers and all dogs. The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff at Doylestown Hospital, Cayuga Medical Center, and St. Joe’s Hospital.
