Joyce Tripp

d. July 31, 2023

Joyce B. Tripp of Endwell, NY, age 90, affectionately known as Grammie and Wonderful Person, passed away peacefully at home following a long illness on July 31, 2023, surrounded by loving family. She is survived by her son, Stephen Bizilia, Jr., daughters Carolyn Bizilia, Susan Ligas, Lori McCarthy, grandchildren Eden Ligas, Andrew Ligas, their father Larry Ligas, son-in-law Todd McCarthy, grandchildren Max McCarthy, Mia McCarthy and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Percy and Angie Patterson, big sister Marjorie Whynot, husbands Stephen Bizilia, David Tripp, and longtime special companion, Jerry Campbell.
Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, Joyce was a national essay winner. She met a sailor, moved to the States to start her family, and spent much of her career as a legal secretary. Joyce lived life on her terms, and you could “like it or lump it!” She possessed unique talents, like signing her name with her left hand while mirroring her signature with her right. She also taught her children and grandchildren valuable life skills like quickly reciting the alphabet backwards. Joyce was a woman on the go spending her retirement taking trips with friends, line dancing at the senior center, and Sunday dinners with Jerry.
She possessed a sharp wit and quick laugh that continued throughout her long battle with Alzheimer’s. Her granddaughter, Mia, took special care in filling her days with adventures and happiness as Joyce spent her last decade living with and being cared for by her devoted daughter, Lori, along with Todd and Max.
Her later years were also enhanced by the amazing staff at Yesteryears and her final year was blessed with care and comfort by the wonderful team at Lourdes Hospice.
