Judith E. Walsh of Endwell, NY, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Judy was born on February 24, 1941 in Scranton, PA. Judy graduated from the Marywood Seminary in 1958 and Marywood University in 1962. Judy started as a teacher in the Binghamton school system in 1962 and later started the Highland Learning Academy where she worked for over 15 years. Judy was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mary Folan, beloved daughter Mari Rush, sister and brother-in-law Jane and Robert (Herky) Durkin, brother-in-law Neal Fasula and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marie and Donald Welliver. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Frank Walsh. Because of illness and family tragedy, the last few years were challenging, however the rest were wonderful and for that we give thanks. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Harold Henderson, son and daughter-in-law Joe and Jessica Walsh; son-in-law Scott Rush; grandchildren Erin, Hailey, and Conner Rush, Kyle and Sean Henderson, and Corinne, Ryan, and Liam Walsh; sister Joyce Fasula and numerous nieces and nephews. Judy was loved by so many she came in contact with in Scranton and Endwell having a profound impact for a generation at the elementary school levels, establishing foundations for life. Raising three kids in the Endwell area, Judy was instrumental in serving many community organizations, along with her family and friends, such as the Church of the Holy Family, Town of Union and the Maine-Endwell School District. The family would like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd Village at Endwell for their competent and compassionate care for Judy.
A Funeral Mass for Judy will be held Friday, February 9th at 11 am at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, PA. The family will receive friends on Friday at church from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Judy’s memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
