Kathie J. Buchak, of Endicott, NY, 66, fell asleep on the morning of Saturday, September 26, 2015 and passed away peacefully at home after a short and courageous battle with cancer.Kathie graduated from Union-Endicott High School in 1966. She then attended SUNY Cortland and Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. She returned to Endicott in 1970 and began working as a teaching assistant for the Union-Endicott School District and spent the rest of her career split between Union-Endicott High School and Jennie F. Snapp Middle School. Kathie was known as an avid reader and was lucky enough to spend her time with the Union-Endicott School District in the library system. Kathie was preceded in death by her mother Georgianna Storm and her stepmother Laurilla J. Laszewski. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Michael D. Buchak; her beloved son David R. Buchak and wife Amanda L. Buchak; her grandchildren Adriana and Drew Buchak; father Joseph A. Laszewski and his brother Raymond; brother Joey Laszewski; cousin Barb Cieri; cousins Debbie and Michelle Wheatley; cousins Tim and Kim Weslar, and their son Logan (Port Orange, Florida); cousin Kelly and her son Zachary Hurse (Ormands, Florida); cousins Walter Wheatley and Matthew Leverone (San Francisco, California); special family friends Karen and Jim Stiles; and her Thursday night dinner club members Joan Curtin, Lori Saraceno, and Bobbi Hover. Her family would like to thank all of the care providers at Lourdes Hospital and Hospice for their help and support

The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Thursday evening from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider making a donation to a charity of one’s choice in Kathie’s name.
