Kathleen “Kathy” Gardner

Kathleen Gardner, 64 of Vestal passed away surrounded by her family on December 10, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Wade and Betty Walker, and brother Randy Walker. Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 36 years John Gardner, two sons Walker Starner (girlfriend Andrea Mathis), Jedd Gardner, both of Vestal and one stepson, Jamie Gardner; Aunt Bev, Huntsville, Alabama; Aunt Millie, Wendell, NC; Several nieces and nephews; and her beloved Yellow Labradors Abbey, Ruthie, and Bucky. Kathy was a graduate of Vestal High School, Broome Community College and Harpur College with a degree in Accounting. Kathy was employed by the Vestal School District as a Bus driver for 35 years. She enjoyed interacting with the students and their families over her years as a driver. She also attended Penn State Football games with family and friends. Kathy was a 19-year member of the Vestal Elks where she spent countless hours volunteering her time. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s name to the Vestal Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #2508 2072 Vestal Parkway West, Vestal, New York 13850.
At Kathy’s request there will be no calling hours at this time. The family will hold a Celebration of Life on December 30, 2017 at 2 pm at which there will be a Lodge of Sorrow, Vestal Elks Lodge, 2071 Vestal Parkway West, Vestal, NY.
