Kathleen M. Vasisko, 53 of Apalachin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family Saturday, March 14, 2015 after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her grandparents Jim and Helen Crane, Earl and Florence Rodgers, father-in-law, Vincent Vasisko, brother-in-law, Richard Vasisko, nephew, Joseph Bishop, brother-in law, David O’Connell and many close aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by husband, Scott Vasisko, children, Corey, Laura and Sara Vasisko, parents, Bob and Shirley Rodgers, and mother-in-law Dolores Vasisko. Also surviving are her siblings, Jim Rodgers and Karen Blackman, Patti and Scott Fine, Bob and Jean Rodgers, and Lisa Blake. Sister-in-law Nancy and Ken Herbaugh, brother-in-law Chris and Carolyn Vasisko. She was also well-loved by her many nieces and nephews: Kristy, Austin, Evan, Eric, Jesse, Emily, Ben, Claire, Jack, Jay, Allison, Adam, Olivia, Delaney and Victoria and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kathy also loved her faithful dog, Nella. She was a graduate of Union Endicott High School and Alfred State College of Nursing. She was an employee of UHS, Twin Tier Home Health and Corporate Care Management and also a member of Our Lady of Sorrows. The support from family friends and neighbors will never be forgotten. A special thanks goes out to all the people who loved and cared for her deeply, especially the friends and staff at Corporate Care Management, the doctors and staff at Broome Oncology, UHS Radiation Oncology, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. Kathy was a kind, compassionate and loving person to everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by all. Kathy would want people to always remember to appreciate the small things in life and to take a moment to do something nice for someone.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday 11 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. Expressions of sympathy in Kathy’s memory can be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier.
