Kathryn Barrett

d. May 17, 2023

Kathryn T. Barrett, 98, of Endwell, NY was reunited with her husband and two sons on Tuesday, May 18, 2023. She died peacefully at Lourdes Hospital following a brief illness. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles W. Barrett; her parents, Joseph and Philomena (Boll) Buzako; her brother, Joseph Buzako; and her sons, John F. Barrett and Charles J. Barrett. Mrs. Barrett is survived by her sisters Marian Davis (Charles) of Port Washington, NY and Teresea Cook (Dennis) of Fort Collins, CO; a daughter-in-law, Amy Barrett of Endwell, NY; her two grandchildren, Maureen Patterson (Kipp) of Endwell, NY and Patrick Barrett (Laura) of North Port, FL; and two great-grandchildren, Genevieve Marie Barrett and Gavin Thomas Barrett. She is fondly remembered by a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other beloved relatives and friends. Kathryn was born and raised in Mildred, PA. After completing high school at Cherry Township High School in Mildred, Kathryn graduated from Scranton-Lackawanna Business College with an Associates Degree in Business. After a brief career at the First National Bank in Dushore, she married the love of her life, Charles at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mildred, PA. It wasn’t long before they moved to Endicott, NY where she and Charlie put their heart and soul into their dream home on Yale Street. They worked side by side painting, wallpapering, varnishing, and gardening to maintain a pristine home. They led a healthy lifestyle by always enjoying the fresh vegetables from the garden and homemade seasonal jams. Baking was one of her favorite pastimes, as guests could always enjoy a homemade cookie, or a piece of cake or pie made from a family recipe. In addition to her homemaking skills, she often volunteered at St. Joseph School and Seton Catholic High School. She was the core of the family. Kathryn was proud of her Catholic faith as she was a member of St. Joseph’s Altar and Rosary Society, and proud of her heritage by participating in the Lithuanian Women’s Society. Kathryn was truly the matriarch of the family and will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Good Shepherd Village at Endwell for the excellent care they provided.

Services will be held at Kathryn’s home parish of Saint Joseph’s Church on Hayes Avenue in Endicott, NY on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
