Kenneth “Ken” Hollenbeck

d. February 8, 2022

Kenneth Hollenbeck, 63, of Johnson City, passed away on February 8, 2022, at Mercy House of the Southern Tier. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Gladys Hollenbeck and his brother David Hollenbeck.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Carol (Borgna) Hollenbeck, son Patrick Hollenbeck( Aubrey) of Hallstead, PA, and four adored grandchildren, Theisen, Mason, and Paxtyn Hollenbeck and Isabella Johnson. Also surviving are his brother, Kevin Hollenbeck and sister, Susan Titocci, and several aunts, nieces and nephews.
He was a native of Owego, born in Johnson City on December 27, 1958. He was for many years a machinist at George Industries in Endicott.
Ken found his greatest joy in fishing, reading any book he could lay hands on, and especially spending time playing with his grandchildren and his beloved Rottweiler, Luca, and cheering on his Packers, Mets, and Knicks.
Ken and Carol spent many seasons on the bleachers, cheering on Patrick and his teammates playing baseball and basketball. And if he wasn’t behind the snack counter at Sertoma Field, he was in front of it, buying enough junk food to satisfy his legendary appetite!
With his wife, Ken worked for years at Dorothy’s Dinner soup kitchen at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, cooking, serving, and joking with the guests. He was known for his self-deprecating sense of humor, as well as being outspoken and stubborn!
His family is grateful for the care Ken received by staff at Wilson Hospital and Broome Oncology. And they would especially like to thank the wonderful staff at Mercy House, who gently and diligently cared for him with respect and love.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 11 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 West Main Street, Endicott. The family will receive friends at church Saturday from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am.
Ken’s family asks that, in lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, Dorothy’s Dinner soup kitchen at Our Lady of Good Counsel, or the Broome County Humane Society.
