Kevin Sweet

Our hearts are broken. Kevin Johnson Sweet passed on March 18th, 2021, at the age of 69. Kevin was born in Daytona Beach, Florida on January 2nd 1952. He graduated from Chenango Valley High School; he earned his degree from SUNY Delhi where he found his love of carpentry.
Kevin is best known for his benevolence. He aspired to help those in need and embodied the hippie spirit’s desire for world peace. He encompassed the generosity and compassion for humanity of his great grandfather George F. Johnson. Some of his fondest memories included the times he spent with his family enjoying the great outdoors in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He loved riding bicycles, and kept several spares for anyone in need.
The radio was on 24 hours a day, every day. Particular favorites were listening to Yankees games, Frank Zappa, John Lennon, The Beatles, and Talking Heads. A longtime supporter of public radio, he enjoyed listening to NPR and advocating for a compassionate and peaceful world. His unique perspective on life will continue in the lives he helped to shape.
He is survived by four loving children, Danielle DeMarco of Long Beach, CA, Jeremy Sweet of Homestead, FL, Erica Farber of Binghamton, NY, and Barrett Sweet of Binghamton, NY; three grandchildren, Gunner Farber, Lillian Farber, and Kayla Sweet; mother Betty Rose; brother Jeff Sweet; sisters Heidi Sweet-Matalka, and Natalie Rose-Hannon; niece Victoria Matalka; cousins Bill and Patrick Scanlon for their loyalty and support of Kevin; as well as numerous other cousins, aunts, and uncles from the Sweet, Scanlon and Black Families. Kevin is predeceased by his father George Sweet, sister Lauren Sweet, aunt Sandra Scanlon, and cousin ‘Toby’ Scanlon. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to his caretaker Janna Rincavage for making his last years truly a life worth living.
Kevin will rest in Gibson, PA next to his father, George Sweet. He requested no sadness to accompany his passing, but instead a ‘big party’ to celebrate his life. The party will take place at a later date. The family would like to welcome all friends to attend. Cherish the time you have, for ‘Tomorrow is another day’, until it isn’t anymore.
