Lawrence L. Allen

Lawrence Leo Allen, 86, of Vestal is now with his Lord and Savior, passing away Monday, May 10, 2010. He was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Emma; his sisters Ruth (Bill) Morris and Mary Jane (Kirby) Baer and a brother Jim. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Joyce; a son Charles (Paula) Allen; daughters Joanne Allen and Susan (Jim) Lake; granddaughter Joanna (Grayson) Brown-Oliva; step grandson Devon Lake and great granddaughters, whom he adored Amelia and Lucy Brown-Oliva; sisters in law Barbara and Viola Allen; also several nieces and nephews. Lawrence joined the Navy in 1942, serving in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Neshanic, which received nine Battle Stars and was a retired Atlantic Richfield Company employee, retiring after 36 years of service. He married Joyce in 1950 and spent his life selflessly caring for his loved ones. Lawrence’s family would like to thank Twin Orchard Baptist Church for all their prayers and kindnesses.Funeral Services will be held Thursday 11 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with the Reverend Timothy Dodd officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Thursday from 9 am until service time at 11 am.
