Lawrence Lee Corwin, 66, of Endwell, unexpectedly passed away on February 14, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Larry was predeceased by his parents Robert and Dorothy Corwin and his brother Kevin Corwin. He is survived by his bride of 43 years, Judy Corwin, children Christopher (Colleen) Corwin of Glen Spey, NY, Kathleen (Timothy) Waite of Irondequoit, NY, and Daniel Corwin of Johnson City, NY; brother Timothy (Suzan) Corwin, Nashua, NH, sister, Cynthia Corwin (Alison Muller) of Saco, ME and sister-in-law Natalie Corwin, of Johnson City, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren Erin, Teaghan, Brady and Finn; his aunt, Mary Jane Madden of East Syracuse, NY, and mother-in-law, Lois Klinok of Endwell, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry was an active member of The Church of the Holy Family serving as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Holy Name Society, a Faith Formation teacher and helped out the church wherever needed. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1839. He was a graduate of Walsh University, did graduate work at Binghamton University, and obtained a Master’s Certificate of Theology from Loyola University. Always an educator, Larry taught English for 27 years at Jennie F. Snapp Middle School and continued to serve as a substitute teacher after his retirement. He also taught for Elmira Business Institute for several years. His greatest passion in life was living and teaching others the values and spirit of Boy Scouting. Starting as a youth, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 14. His commitment to the ideals of Scouting continued throughout his life. Whether it was at troop, district or national levels; whether it was camping, fishing, scoutcraft or any outdoor activity, he was there to lead and share his experience and enthusiasm. His other interests included literature, telling good stories, photography, woodworking, and using the latest technologies, as well as rolling on the floor as he played with his grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 10 am from Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City at the convenience of the family. The Family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Tuesday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Larry and his love for Camp Tuscarora can be made to Baden Powell Council, BSA, directed to Camp Tuscarora at 2150 NYS Route 12, Binghamton, NY 13901.
