Lawrence Kotasek

Lawrence Kotasek, of Vestal, NY, 90, passed away on March 28, 2021. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Lawrence was predeceased by his wife, Lillian Kotasek, parents Katherine and Mathew Kotasek, sister Sophie Comfort, and brothers John and Louis Kotasek. He is survived by his children, Karen, John and Joseph (Linda) Kotasek, his grandchildren, Maureen (Matthew) McKeown, Matthew Miernicki, Daniel, Julie, Kait- lin and Kaleb Kotasek, his brothers Peter, Karl and Thomas Kotasek, sisters Frances Vlasak and Marie (Roy) Nersesian, also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lawrence was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Navy. He retired with 38 years’ service from New York State Elec- tric and Gas Company. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 89, as well as the Knights of Columbus, Council 2953. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, horseshoes, and numerous DIY projects. The family would like to give special thanks to Lourdes at Home and Angels on Call for help- ing to care for Lawrence at home the last several months of his life.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday 10:30 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Our Lady of Sorrows food pantry, 801 Main Street, Vestal, NY 13850.
