Leona Flint

d. June 29, 2023

Leona E. Flint, 84 of Endicott, was reunited with Bob, her husband of 64 years on June 29, 2023. She was born on March 3, 1939 in Johnson City, NY to Percy and Hazel Adams.
Leona loved to sing. She had a beautiful voice and sang many years ago with the Endicott Johnson worker’s band and on local telethons. She and her sister Fran were often found harmonizing at some party or event. Music was always a big part of her life and she often listened to the old country music that she loved dearly. Leona loved to cook and bake for her family who often requested a batch of her lasagna or her Spanish rice. Leona LOVED the New York Yankees. She not only watched the games but kept Stats and had many, many reference books on her shelves should a question arise about a former player. She was such an avid fan watching each and every game with her fingers crossed offering encouragement and criticism to HER team. She was also an avid fan of the Syracuse Orangemen basketball team.
Leona worked full time as she raised her children and managed her home. She retired from Burt’s Department Store in Endicott as the manager of the book department after thirty years of service.
Leona was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Cynthia, her brothers, George (Delores), Eugene (Ann) and Royce Adams and sisters Anna May and Doris, sister in law Gloria Adams and brother in laws Dave and Wayne Flint (Nancy). She was also predeceased by nephew Dale Flint, niece Teri Cobb, special cousins Leo and Lena Vandermark and her close friends Phyllis Blackman and Barb Toby.
She is survived by her son Bobby Flint (Maggie) of Cleveland, NY, granddaughters Mandy and Tara and great granddaughter Cheyanne. She is also survived by her brother Carl Adams of Maine, NY and her sister Frances Masteller of Owego, NY, special cousin Charlotte Kent of Newark Valley, NY and dear friends Joan Redolphy and Betty Dodge. Many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Mercy House of the Southern Tier for the care and compassion shown to Leona in her last days. A special thank you to volunteers Gail and Kristen for sharing the gift of music and song during Leona’s stay at Mercy House.
