Madeline Amelia Bousa, 92, of Apalachin, NY, died peacefully on October 28, 2024.
Madeline was born in Ilion, NY, to Genevieve (née Holmes) Tine and Kenneth F. Tine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vince (Mickey) Bousa, her brother, Kenneth F. Tine Jr. and her son-in-law David Strows. She is survived by her daughter Karen Strows; son Vince Bousa and wife Mary Ann; daughter Lynn Raley and Rick Wilcox; son John and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren Jeremy (Tamara), Kristin (Scott), Kimberly (Mike), Jonathan (Annjeanette), Christine (Thomas); great-grandchildren Mariella, Miranda, Alexander, Brody, Xavier, Cameron, Bailey, and Hunter.
Madeline and Mickey traveled throughout the country as they followed Mickey’s career with IBM and finally settled in Apalachin, NY, for 65 happy years. Mom lived a full life and with four kids was never one to be idle. She retired from Lourdes Hospital after 22 years where she worked in the lab. She kept an impeccable home and was a great cook - one never left the table hungry. Madeline supported her children throughout the years as they participated in Vestal sports and activities. She was adventurous and found much happiness in summers at the beach with family, traveling to such places as Switzerland, sailing to the Galápagos Islands, and exploring Alaska by train and cruise. She loved concerts in the park, community dinners, caring for her beautiful yard, and Sunday drives with her buddy, Ron.
Madeline was a proud member of the Vestal Elks Lodge and was the self-proclaimed 50/50 ticket top seller. She thoroughly enjoyed her gang of friends and their time spent at the club. Let’s not forget mom’s love of clothes - now is the time to sell your Talbot’s stock. We must share gratitude for her friend, Lori, for ensuring mom’s hair was always impeccably coiffed. Not even in death would she miss her weekly hair appointment.
The family will receive friends Friday November 8 from 5 to 7 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. A Funeral Service will be held at the memorial home Saturday November 9 at 10:00 am.
