Margaret was born on March 29, 1922 in Conemaugh, PA. Margaret lost her father at an very young age of black lung from the Pennsylvania coal mines. Her mom and siblings made the journey to Endicott in the back of a truck with nothing but a small chest of clothes. Her oldest sister (age 15) took a job at E.J.’s to provide the bare essentials for the family. Meeting and marrying George provided for the life she came to enjoy.
While her husband (George) was an IBMer and retail store owner (Newell Sales), Margaret handled all the household and properties finances…paying all the expenses the old fashioned way cash only!
In retirement years Margaret enjoyed nothing more than getting all dressed up in her beautiful sparkliest evening gowns to go out ballroom dancing with her husband and friends.
We were blessed with her longevity and quality of life, her strong will and sense of humor. Margaret was fortunate to be able to spend the last years of her life in her home which she loved.
In her later years her softness and thankfulness was very endearing. Margaret called everyone who helped her in anyway her guardian angel! Her most used phrase was “Oh thank you, thank you guardian angel!” Her “guardian angels” were many caregivers, Ann, Tammy, Lauren, Hozan, Beth, April, Lisa, Rose and Todd her grandson with whom she shared an extra special bond with. Also special thanks to nieces Bernadette Korosec and Julia Bambara NP both of whom she was very fond of.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 11 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday from 10 am until service time at 11 am.
