Margaret Rose Mistretta

Margaret Rose Mistretta passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, surrounded by her family. Frank Steven Mistretta, Margaret’s devoted husband of 68 years, survives her, as do her children and grandchildren, Frank David (Susan) Mistretta, Thomas Randall (Katya) Mistretta and their sons Alexander and Pio Thomas, Lisa Michelle (Bryant) Linares and their sons Cameron Robert and Zachary Francis. Margaret is also survived by her brother, James; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Stevens and Francine Custode and brothers-in-law, Peter (Leah) Mistretta and Anthony (Patricia) Mistretta and her much loved nieces, nephews and godchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose DiStefano; her sisters, Mary and Lena; her brothers, Albert, Charles, Anthony, Fred, Al, John, Joseph and Alphonso. Margaret was a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother and faithful friend. She devoted her life of ninety years to her faith, family and friends with a special devotion to Holy Mary, Mother of God. Margaret was blessed to enter Paradise in the Season of Easter. Margaret’s family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful physicians, nurses and staff of the UHS Decker Cardiac Care Unit of Wilson Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Margaret.

A Funeral Mass, Father John Kurgan presiding, will be celebrated on Monday, April 18, at 11:00 in the morning at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal, NY. The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday morning from 10:00 until Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. Margaret was a loving presence in the lives of so many. She will be sorely missed.
