Mariano B. Apacible Jr., 81, of Binghamton, New York passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 with his family by his side. As a kidney transplant recipient at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, Mariano is eternally grateful for the gift he received in 2013. Mariano was preceded in death by his parents, Mariano Apacible Sr. and Rosario Oco Apacible. He is survived by his wife, Mariquita of 50 years, daughter, Christine Apacible and her two children Kristiana and Mariano; daughter and son-in-law, Manon and Bradford Buonasera, their children Mia Jolie and Madison Cameron, and daughter Leslie Apacible. A loving eldest brother to his: sister Girlie Aragon of The Philippines; sister and brother-in-law Nenuca and Jun Bustos of East Windsor, NJ; brother and sister-in-law Medardo Benjamin and Cora Bernardo Apacible of The Philippines, sister Frine Kates of Philadelphia, PA; brother and sister-in-law Marvin and Mavi Apacible of The Philippines, and sister Marithess Acuna of The Philippines. In addition, he served as the patriarch loving “Uncle” or “Papa Bear” to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mariano was a psychiatrist at the former Binghamton Psychiatric Center, Broome County of Mental Health, and Disability Determination Services (DDS) of NY State. He belonged to the Windsor Lodge of NY No. #04421, Kalurah Shriners, and 32nd degree member of Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. The family held a private burial ceremony in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY.
A celebration of life Mass will be offered at the Parish of Saints John and Andrew, 1263 Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Saturday, July 28th at 11 am; family will receive friends starting at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gift of Life Family House, 401 Callowhill Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123 or The Parish of Saints John and Andrew in Binghamton.
