Marie Magil

Our beloved mother Marie Magill, 88 of Endwell, NY passed away peacefully on April 11, 2016. She was born Marie Helen Casper in Auburn NY on May 6,1927 to parents Fredrick and Helen Casper. She attended Good Counsel College in White Plains and graduated with a degree in Chemistry. She worked as a chemist in NYC for a short time. Marie married Peter John Magill in 1952 and after starting their family at Penn State University, they eventually moved to Endwell. Marie was a very active parishioner of St Ambrose church in Endicott where she was involved in many programs such as Human Development, the Food Pantry, Altar Rosary Society, Prayer Network, Project Concern, Soup Kitchen, Parish Nurse and much more. Marie was always caring for the poor and needy and lived a true Christian Life. Marie will always be remembered for providing home cooked meals for family, friends and strangers. After raising her seven children, Marie returned to school where she obtained a degree in Nursing. She then worked at Lourdes Hospital as an Oncology nurse for over 20 years. She focused on putting spirituality into her nursing and treated her patients like extended family. Marie received the Lourdes Annual Mission Award in 1991. She continued to be a life long learner, often attending Lyceum courses at SUNY Binghamton. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; her brother John Casper and his wife Wanda. She is survived by her brother Joseph Casper and his wife Jean; her seven children Kathy Magill, Mike Magill (Pat), Anne Hulvey (Mike), Mary Fetterman (Jeff), Ellen McCann (Sean), Jane Barrett (Steve) and Patty Magill (Leo Ryan); her grandchildren Kyle and Kayla Gibbons, Mollie Magill O’Connor, Dan and Matt Magill, Bryan, Kasey and Graham Hulvey, Ryan and Jenna Fetterman, Kelly McCann, Patrick, Sean and Kevin Barrett, Maggie, Luke and Peter Ryan, her great granddaughter Emma O’ Connor and many nieces and nephews. We are truly grateful for all the employees of Good Shepard Village who provided comfort, support and friendship to our mother over the past several years.
